Call to reduce stigma behind homeless youths

A charity has called on policy-makers and commissioners to reduce the stigma around youth homelessness so that young people are more willing to seek help for housing problems. Depaul UK, a charity working to provide safe places for homeless young people, found that young people often avoid admitting to being ‘homeless’, which can lead to potentially harmful living arrangements such as sofa surfing or multi-occupancy housing. Danger Zones and Stepping Stones calls for better education around homelessness and information on support available.
